Billy Buchanan has been leading worship at Journey since July of 2016. As one of the lead pastors he supports the over all Sunday morning experience ranging from Worship and Technologies to Family Ministry and Groups. His desire is to use his heart for people to create environments where people can experience God freely.
Billy was called to full-time ministry in 2003 and has had a heart for people since he was young . Billy received his Bachelors Degree in Music from Truett McConnell University in 2007 and has served at some amazing churches. Whether he is leading worship for large crowds or for a few people in his living room Billy will make you feel at home and safe in worship.
Billy and his wife, Courtney and live in Murrayville with their dogs, Bear and Chloe - goats, Dolly and Nelly - and chickens, Casserole, Nugget, Strip, Patty, and Betty. He has a zeal for life. Billy and Courtney love all things outdoors. From road biking and hiking to just hanging around in a hammock, as long as Billy and Courtney are outside you will always see a smile on their face.
Lauren Kovalchick has been a Ministry Assistant at Journey Church for two years. She supports the staff at Journey as well as the Admin Team. She loves serving others and believes in the mission of Journey to love on others and create safe spaces for healing and new life in Christ. She wants others to experience community and acceptance, and help them along their journey.
Lauren and her husband Steve call North Hall home, with their two beautiful daughters Ella and Madelynn, their dogs Betty Jo, Briggs, Gabbi and Blaze, as well as their cats Sammy & Kenzie. She has a servants heart and a love for her church family and animals. She volunteers at the local animal shelter and opens her home and heart to foster dogs needing homes. Lauren also loves the outdoors and spends most of her time with her family at the lake or hiking in the mountains.
Samantha has been the Financial Assistant at Journey since 2015. She has worked in accounting for 23 years. She lives in Gainesville with her husband of 26 years, Jay, her 10 year old son, Ben, one grumpy cat, one neurotic cat and a goofy dog. She enjoys reading, homeschooling and spending time with friends and family.
